Fort Bend Co, TX (July 12, 2021) – Three people, including a small child were killed early Friday morning, July 9, in a fiery car crash that occurred in Mission Bend, officials said.
Deputies with the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office said that the two-vehicle crash occurred around 1:15 a.m. in the westbound lanes of the Westpark Tollway near FM 1464. Kris Parrent, the public information officer for the Community Volunteer Fire Department, said that at least one car burst into flames as a result of the collision. A child’s car seat was also launched from one of the vehicles, Parrent said, and the child was transported via Life Flight to Texas Medical Center. The child was in very critical condition and later succumbed to his injuries.
The drivers of both vehicles died before they could be taken to area medical centers. It’s unclear if any other victims sustained injuries in the wreck.
Parrent said he did not know how the crash happened, but deputies with the FBCSO are conducting an investigation. No further details have been released at this time.
