Houston, TX (April 8, 2021) – A woman killed in a wrong-way accident that occurred on the Westpark Tollway early Wednesday morning, April 7, has been identified as a Houston-area woman.
Jaelyn Chapman, 19, died in the crash, which happened in the inbound lanes of Westpark near Dunvale just after 2:00 a.m.
Deputies with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office said the crash was caused by an intoxicated wrong-way driver. Three others who were riding in the car with Chapman sustained serious injuries and are in critical condition at an area medical center. Harris County Pct. 5 Constable Assistant Chief Terry Allbritton said that the wrong-way driver was injured but is expected to survive. Allbritton said that the driver will be charged with intoxication manslaughter.
Authorities have not yet released the identities of the three other people injured or the accused drunk driver, though they say the collision remains under investigation.
