Houston, TX (November 14, 2021) – On Sunday morning, November 14, a 4-year-old girl died and 3 other children suffered serious injuries after a single-vehicle accident occurred in NE Houston.
The children’s mother, Rosalia Sanchez, was charged with DWI and murder as a result of the incident. Preliminary reports indicate that Sanchez reportedly veered onto the shoulder of the roadway at the 4200 block of East Sam Houston Parkway northbound, ran into an electronic traffic control device, and then struck a concrete barrier wall around 4:30 a.m. Five children were riding in her Infiniti G35 sedan at the time of the accident.
Four of those children were hospitalized, and one of them, a 4-year-old girl, succumbed to her injuries upon arrival to the hospital. The other children including two 10-year-old girls, a 7-year-old girl, and a 2-year-old, were not believed to be seriously injured but were admitted to an area medical center as a precautionary measure.
The reports also revealed that the 4-year-old was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision and was possibly sitting on the lap of another child. Sanchez has now been accused of murder, DWI with child passengers, and intoxication assault.
HPD officers say their investigation is ongoing and have not released further details at this time.
