Houston, TX (May 10, 2021) – Officers with the Houston Police Department are looking for the driver who allegedly ran a red light and caused a crash that killed a motorcyclist late on Sunday evening, May 9.
Authorities say that the incident happened on Highway 288, the South Freeway, near Holly Hall.
Witnesses told police a pickup or SUV ran the light and struck a motorcyclist traveling westbound. The motorcyclist reportedly had the right of way with a green light. The suspect, believed to be in a white or light-colored car, briefly stopped but then fled the scene.
Paramedics were dispatched and attempted life-saving measures, but the motorcyclist died at the scene. The victim’s family also arrived at the scene to speak with the police, though the man’s identity has not formally been released.
