Houston, TX (September 10, 2021) – Authorities say a wrong-way driver caused several vehicles to crash on a northeast Houston road Friday afternoon, September 10.
According to Houston Police Department officers, a driver was traveling the wrong way down North Wayside near Clinton Drive at the time of the incident.
A total of five vehicles were reportedly involved in the collision, including a car driven by an off-duty police officer.
One person was said to be trapped and had to be extricated by the Houston Fire Department. However, there were no life-threatening injuries, and only a few victims required transport to an area medical center.
Their current conditions, as well as the extent of their injuries, are unknown.
An investigation is underway and is being conducted by officers with the HPD.
