Simmons and Fletcher, P.C., is pleased to announce that Paul H. Cannon has accepted a position on the Board of Directors for Katy Cares. Katy Cares is an organization dedicated to helping single-parent families that have been disrupted by unexpected or traumatic and life-changing events. The organization provides mentoring, counseling, coaching, training programs, as well as other essential support services to families facing financial, emotional, and social hardships in an effort to help them rebuild their lives after escaping danger.
Simmons and Fletcher, P.C., has been a proud sponsor of Katy Cares in the past. In September 2025, our firm was the Gold Sponsor for the 9th annual Katy Cares Boots & Bling Gala. The Gala was an exciting night of food, drinks, dancing, live music, and live auctions, with all money raised being used to help fund educational and training programs for single parents and mentoring services for family members. The Gala will be held again later this year, with the date and location to be announced.
About Katy Cares
Katy Cares was founded in 2016 as a faith-based mission to serve single-parent families in the Katy area. The founding members of the organization recognized the growing social crisis impacting single mothers and their children, who have often faced traumatic events and life-threatening situations, and built a team dedicated to ensuring that these families could rebuild their lives in a positive manner and escape from danger. Katy Cares aims to offer hope, healing, and practical assistance to some of the most vulnerable populations who have experienced trauma. Since being founded in 2016, the mission has expanded to serve Harris, Waller, and Fort Bend counties. You can learn more about the mission by watching Meet Houston Missions: Katy Cares, where Paul H. Cannon talks to the founder, Dr. Dawid Pieterse, about the mission, ways to help, and how to get involved.
