Meet Houston Missions brings you Cookies for a Cause by Susan. Cookies for a Cause by Susan is a mission to raise money to fight Alzheimer’s and bring awareness to the community about this illness. Through baking cookies for events and teaching courses on cookie making and decorating, Cookies for a Cause by Susan makes activism and education both fun and delicious!
Background
Susan Leining, the founder, lost her parents to Alzheimer’s. This motivated her to do something to help raise awareness and money for research and treatment on behalf of the Alzheimer’s Association. For this video, we brought Susan to our office at Simmons and Fletcher, P.C., Injury & Accident Lawyers, and had her teach our staff how she makes and decorates cookies for a cause. We also got to learn about Alzheimer’s and her motivation for joining the battle.
Cookie Classes
Susan regularly teaches classes at her church in Santa Fe, Texas as well as several local baking-related businesses. Additionally, she will come to your business or your office to teach courses provided you can guarantee a minimum number of participants. The donation rate for her classes is $30.00 per person with a minimum size of 6 people in Galveston County and 10 people in surrounding counties. In her classes, she teaches people about the signs and symptoms of Alzheimer’s as well as teaching them her tips and tricks to make consistently-sized yummy cookies for any event. Students will get to decorate up to 6 cookies each while learning her techniques.
Cookies for Events
Susan also makes cookies for specific events in exchange for your donation to the Alzheimer’s Association. If you need cookies for weddings, holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, or other events, Cookies for a Cause is a great way to get them done and do good at the same time.
Susan’s Gift of Time and Supplies
Unlike many charities or fundraisers where the proceeds go tot he beneficiary, Susan gives her time as well as the cost of her supplies as part of the donation as well. So she is essentially matching every donation she gets with her own time and money.
