In this episode of Meet Houston Missions & The Simmons and Fletcher Local Missions Podcast, hear from Barry Hart, the Executive Director of Tomball Emergency Assistance Ministries a/k/a T.E.A.M. Mr. Hart tells us how T.E.A.M. partners with local businesses to serve low income, individuals and families that live in the Tomball area or are members at T.E.A.M. sponsor churches. It was founded in 1986 by 11 churches. Today there are 18 sponsor churches that support the T.E.A.M. mission.
Missions Projects
T.E.A.M. operates a food pantry and also coordinates food delivery for elderly and disabled qualifying persons in need. They fill over 3300 grocery orders each year. In addition, they operate a resale shop at the Main Street location in Tomball which helps to fund the food pantry. They also offer a jobs ministry to help people find jobs and rebuild their lives.
Volunteer & Giving Opportunities
T.E.A.M is a large mission operation requiring workers a the food pantry and resale shop as well as volunteer drivers, packers, and stockers. In addition to your time, financial contributions and resale item donations can be made. In-kind services such as pest control or other beneficial services are always appreciated as well.
Volunteers are always needed to help in the resale shop. They need people to handle everything from receiving and packing to unloading and loading furniture. Cashiers are volunteers as well.
They also have partnerships with several local organizations such as the Houston Food Bank that deliver food to T.E.A.M. for distribution.
T.E.A.M. is also in the development stage of a mentorship program for the people they help. People with mentoring and counseling backgrounds are encouraged to volunteer.
